Dear [FIRSTNAME],

Our flight left Chicago at 7:35 pm on Monday. Fourteen hours later we arrived in India at 9:45 pm. I got into bed at 1:00 am on Wednesday morning. The 7:00 am wake up call definitely woke me up.

The first speaker was the General Director of Mission India. He described the phenomenal work that God is doing through their literacy program. Then we flew to Hyderabad, leaving the hotel at 12:30 pm and arriving at 5:45. Then we drove for an hour to one of the literacy classes. They normally meet from 5:30 to 7:30, five nights a week for a year. But the thirty students stayed late because we were on our way, getting there about 8:20.

The class is all women of all ages, except for one man. Three women shared why they were in the class. I got some video of it. But it won’t be great, as they were meeting on a roof, lighted by one bulb. Yet they were all committed to learning to read and write.

The women shared how they wanted to read God’s Word and improve their lives. They were amazing testimonies to God’s love in action in these programs.

They not only learn to read and write, but also learn about health, how to increase their income through work, and how to avoid wasting their income. The Bible is used as a teaching aid, to instruct them in God’s love and Jesus’ salvation.

Seeing these students made me realize how much God has blessed us to be a blessing. I’m proud of Trinity for supporting Mission India. These programs and Jesus’ love will be transforming India in the coming years.

In Christ,

Pastor Steve
