Rowes’ Brazil Mission Trip 7/19/09

Today we went to the orphanage, which also happens to have a facility for the elderly on the property--which really works good with the children, as the older people take some responsibility for care of the children. One elderly woman had been bed-bound for 10 years, had someone bring her to this facility, give her a walker and a reason to live. She now walks all over the place, wanting to help with the children. She never had dolls when she was a child. She now collects broken dolls and dolls in disrepair and fixes them up and gives them to the girls. She now sees a reason to live.

ULBRA is the Lutheran University in Brazil. ULBRA stand for University Luterana of Brazil. They are the largest in the world with 130,000 students and 14 campuses. It is probably THE most respected university in Brazil--a well-known and well-respected Dental School and a well-known and respected medical school. We are supposed to visit that within the next few days.

They are feeding us so much food here I am afraid we are going to pop. Back to jogging and diet when I get back to the real world. By the way, Jean and I adopted another child to support his education. He is at the orphanage and his name is Jonathan. Be praying for him.

God’s Blessings,
Pastor Rowe
