| Principal’s Message:
I Stand in wonder There was a couple that
attended their daughter’s open
house at a public elementary school. When they met their daughter’s
teacher she spoke kindly of the first grader but she had some
concerns. She then invited them to look at the artwork; they
would soon see what the teacher meant. Dozens of brown paper treasure chests were stapled to the bulletin
board. The bulletin board was titled, "A REAL TREASURE WOULD BE…" The
couple walked over and began opening the lids to find their
daughter’s
treasure and see why it concerned the teacher. As
they looked into each chest, they saw televisions and Nintendos,
heaps of gold coins,
and a unicorn. Their daughter’s
chest was in the very bottom corner of the bulletin board.
They had
to stoop down to open it. Their daughter had drawn Christ, hanging on a cross with red
drops of blood shaped like hearts dripping from his hands. She
had completed the sentence,
"A REAL TREASURE WOULD BE…JESUS." I stand in wonder at all
God has done for us! Have you ever experienced a "WoW" moment? God has given so much to
us… the beauty of the world around us, people in our lives,
good and bad experiences. Being a teacher of kindergarteners
I have the privilege to experience a lot of "WoW" moments.
Especially during our "Jesus Time." Talking with the
children about God’s love are "WoW" moments.
Children singing from the bottoms of their hearts are "WoW" moments.
When you see a treasure, would the first words out of your mouth
be "WoW"? Open your eyes or you might just miss a "WoW" moment. What was the teacher’s concern about the first grader? "Do
you see my concern?" the teacher asked, her arms folded
across her chest. "Yes," the father agreed, "I see what you mean.
The J is backwards, isn’t it?" I think the teacher missed
a "WoW" moment. WONDER IS TO STOP AND SAY: "WOW
!" In His Service
